They have only just recovered from the fantastic experience during the regional competitions of the First Robotics Competition in Arizona in the US. After months of hard work to design, build, test and prepare a robot for shipment in accordance with the requirements, the time had come on March 16. With 'Phinix', the robot they developed, Team π participated in the first Regional, followed by a second competition. And not without results! This year the team, of which we are the main sponsor, won two wonderful Awards.
On time, Undamaged and Flexible
Niek Wubben, Events Manager and Mechatronics Engineer Team π wrote an enthusiastic thank you email, which again shows how essential our services are when it really matters. If you have worked very hard together to develop something, your biggest concern is that it arrives well once it has left the workshop. Especially if that is on the other side of the ocean.
IPS Flight case
The challenge of the competition is to develop a robot in a short period of time. The design and timely production of the packaging solution must be seamless with this. This makes it as much a race as the competition itself. Fortunately, our specialists are completely at home with this. Niek explains, "On Tuesday, March 14, we arrived at the team that had taken delivery of our robot. Tense, we opened the crate, but everything looked exactly as we had packed it. Even the modules were undamaged this time. Compliments to Frits Bax and the rest of IPS. You guys at IPS should definitely know that the team is very happy and grateful for the special flight case and that the transport went smoothly without any damage!"
VPS Transport
"Transportation also went a lot better this year because last year we were busy until the last minute to get the robot delivered on time. This time the crates were already on location in Arizona before the team left for America! As a result, everyone went to America with peace of mind. Many thanks for this to Wouter Rijken of VPS for all his efforts and flexibility! The robot is already ready for the return trip. It's going to be absolutely fine, we have every confidence in that."
Brilliant result
"On Thursday, March 16, our first Regional started. A Regional is a competition in itself. A Regional involves 40 teams and lasts for 3 days with its own winners and separate prizes. This year we participated in two Regionals for the first time. At the first one we reached the quarterfinals and won the Quality Award. This award "Celebrates machine Robustness in concept and fabrication". At the second Regional we finished third and won the Team Spirit Award. This award "Celebrates extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit through exceptional partnership and teamwork". We are extremely happy with these awards. Besides all the great results, we have also seen younger members in particular on the team grow tremendously in these 2.5 weeks. Our goal is to inspire young people and we are very happy that we succeeded again this year!"
